October 24 1931 - Notable Passengers
The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by L. D. Douglas, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on October 24th, 1931.
On this voyage Captain Douglas returned from vacation and rejoined the EMPRESS OF ASIA. Captain Lovegrove, who been replacing Douglas, returned to the EMPRESS OF JAPAN.
The ship carried a passenger list of 550.
A good cargo was reported.
The passenger list included W. Cameron Forbes, United States Ambassador to Japan, who was returning to Japan.
