October 13 1927 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by A. J. Hailey, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on October 13th, 1927.  On this voyage Captain Hailey had replaced Captain Douglas who was on leave. 

A capacity cargo and a passenger list of 854 were reported with 130 First Class, 59 Second Class, 45 Third Class, and 630 Steerage passengers.

The cargo included automobiles, spelter, flour, and in the refrigeration holds butter, beef, apples and vegetables.
