June 5 1924 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by L. D. Douglas, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on June 5th, 1924. 

A fairly large passenger list and full cargo was reported.

Some passengers were brought from the East Coast on the Canadian Pacific Railway to board the ship at Vancouver.

At Vancouver the Canadian Pacific Railway delivered several hundred bags of mail to the ship.  The mail had crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the SS MONTCALM from Southampton.  The SS MONTCALM at left Southampton on May 24th, 1924 and the EMPRESS OF ASIA would arrive at Yokohama on June 16th, 1924 accomplishing a very fast delivery time from Great Britain to the Far East.
