June 24 1939 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by M. J. D. Mayall, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on June 24th, 1939.  The ship carried passengers, cargo and mail.  

Europeans who resided in the Far East occasionally enrolled their children in schools in British Columbia.  Among the passengers on this voyage were a number of children who had been attending school in British Columbia and were travelling to the Far East to spend the summer with their families
