January 28 1933 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by A. V. R. Lovegrove, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on January 28th, 1933. 

While in the Far East the EMPRESS OF ASIA would undergo her annual overhaul at Hong Kong and would not return to Victoria and Vancouver until April 3rd, 1933.

A passenger list of 260 in all classes was reported.

Dr. Davidson Black was a passenger on this voyage, returning to the Far East where he was a Professor of Anatomy at the Rockefeller Institute, University of Peking.  Dr. Black was a leading scientist in the discovery and study of the ancient humanoid remains that became known as Peking Man.

The former being Canadian trade Commissioner at Batavia.

V. L. Mintenyohl

Associated with the B. F. Goodrich Company, Akron, Ohio.

Louis Wolfsohn

Of Manila, returning from the United States.

Dr. Davidson Black

Of Toronto, a Professor of Anatomy at the Rockefeller Institute, University of Peking.
