January 11 1930 - Notable Passengers
The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by A. J. Hailey, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing from Vancouver on January 11th, 1930.
When arriving at Victoria, the EMPRESS OF ASIA was forced to use the pier at Ogden Point docks because the PRESIDENT GRANT and the SHIDZUOKA MARU occupied the regular berth at Rithet Piers.
On this voyage the ship made a scheduled stop at Honolulu.
The ship carried 151 First Class, 30 Second Class, 20 Third Class and 250 Steerage passengers. At Honolulu 90 passengers would leave the ship.
