April 18 1936 - Notable Passengers
The EMPRESS
OF ASIA, commanded by A. V. R. Lovegrove, began a Pacific crossing upon sailing
from Vancouver on April 18th, 1936.
The ship was
delayed at Vancouver for 7 hours in order to allow a rendezvous with the mail
train from eastern Canada.
A cargo of
over 3,500 tons and passenger list of over 200 was reported.
Cargo included automobiles, newsprint, bar metal, and flour.
