November 16 1936 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by A. V. R. Lovegrove concluded a Pacific crossing upon reaching Vancouver on November 16th, 1936. On the voyage from Japan the ship experienced a beam wind shortly after leaving Yokohama that endured until two days before reaching the British Columbia coast where fog was encountered.  On this voyage the ship carried the first consignment of Japanese oranges to reach Canada for the fall trade.  A small consignment of gold for United States’ banks and 9 carloads of silk were also carried.
