June 16 1939 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by George Goold, concluded a Pacific crossing upon reaching Vancouver on June 16th, 1939.  On the voyage the ship visited Honolulu prior to reaching Victoria.  An uneventful crossing of the Pacific was described. 

While the EMPRESS OF ASIA was berthed in Vancouver harbour, the British cruiser HMS ORION, of the West Indies squadron paid a visit to the city and remained several days.

Some 358 passengers were reported, about 100 having joined the ship at Honolulu.  Many passengers, destined for the United States, disembarked at Victoria.
