April 20 1939 - Notable Passengers

The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by George Goold, concluded a Pacific crossing upon reaching Vancouver on April 20th, 1939.  On the voyage the ship visited Honolulu on the return trip.  Strong headwinds were encountered between Honolulu and Cape Flattery and delayed arrival at Victoria by a few hours.  The ferry vessel from Victoria to Vancouver was held back to accommodate passengers wishing to meet connection with the east bound train leaving Vancouver.
